Skills Bootcamp overview
Our Skills Bootcamp lasts 14 weeks with each unit taking 2 weeks. The course is online and a typical day has 3 hours of direct teaching and workshop activity (mornings) with 3 hours of guided learning to consolidate skills and develop your portfolio (afternoon).
Assessment is undertaken through the development of a portfolio through the units studied and that builds up during the programme. In addition to the taught subjects, industry speakers and employers will present sessions and host additional activities to develop an understanding of career pathways and the employer community. The Skills Bootcamp will include additional pastoral support and professional development sessions.
“I couldn’t believe it when finally, cybersecurity week arrived. Honestly, I felt like a small kid in a sweet shop! To date the most thrilling and challenging two weeks I’ve experienced.”
“Having spent many of his waking hours deciphering the vast landscape of threats and hacks in cyberspace, it’s been really interesting to take Len’s guided tour of the traps that exist out there. I’ve always assumed that cybersecurity, for those trying to protect users’ data from compromise, must always feel like a form of permanent catch up. What I came away learning is that there is a lot more to defending yourself than just reacting after defeat.”
“In weeks 6 and 7, we covered Cyber Security with Bob Higgie from The Specialists Hub. There are so many different forms of cyber attack and this unit was excellent in helping us to learn about them and also about various aspects of cyber security.”
